Using the bible for your agenda

In the latest news, specifically movie news, it appears that the director for the "Guardians of the Galaxy" movies, James Gunn was fired. He had posted some horrible tweets about rape, and even worse, on his twitter account that need not to be mentioned here. However, in his defense, an actor stated to the public...“Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters. Let every person be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger.” - JAMES 1:19

The actual verse goes as follows: "Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:" James 1:19 KJV. It appears the actor means to say to the public something to the effect of "Hey, let's all be slow in our judgment of what's going on here with this guy".

However the context of James 1:19 goes back to Matthew 10:32 and John 12:48. For Israel, "He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day." They'll need to be swift to hear and receive their Messiah's words. not to mention other verses that tells them to pay attention to every word they say and hear. "Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven."

So how does James 1:19 in that context fit into the firing of a director due to his tweets today? It doesn't. It's a wrong translation of the book of James being used to fit an agenda. Very wrong, very shallow.

If bible verses are to be posted, why not "See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men." 1 Thessalonians 5:15? The Apostle Paul and the instructions given to him for this dispensation will straighten out a situation, not make it worse. We must dispose of our agenda when choosing to study the bible, follow the Lord (by following Paul) and attach ourselves to God's agenda (Ephesians 3:1-9)(Romans 16:25-26).
