Speak to the checkbook, Abraham.

"And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb:" - Romans 4:19

Now when Abraham considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb, this was, according to the scripture, due to the fact that he was not weak in faith.

This is being said, because of the movement out there currently called the word-faith movement. They can very well twist this verse (as well as any verse or verses from the bible that they want) and create a scene where Abraham is essentially "speaking into his situation" words of affirmation, or positive praise regarding his circumstances.

The heresy being...that you can too! Need a new job? Don't be "weak in faith", speak that job into existance! Short on cash? Don't be "weak in faith", pray down those financial strongholds, and speak that financial abundance into existance!

That's living in a fantasy land, of course, but sadly, here are examples of what's called the "Word Faith movement" that goes on all the time...

Example 1: “The whole point is I’m trying to get you to see to get you out of this malaise of thinking that Jesus and the disciples were poor and then relating that to you thinking that you as a child of God have to follow Jesus. The Bible says that he has left us an example that we should follow his steps. That’s the reason why I drive a Rolls Royce. I’m following Jesus’ steps” [Amen, All Right from congregation] (“Ever Increasing Faith” recorded 12/09/90,). - Fred Price

Example 2: "What do you need? Start creating it. Start speaking about it. Start speaking it into being. Speak to your billfold. Say, ‘You big, thick billfold full of money.” Speak to your checkbook. Say, ‘You checkbook, you. You’ve never been so prosperous since I owned you. You’re just jammed full of money” - Marilyn Hickey

Abraham believed God. The object of Abraham's faith, was what God said. Specifically: "And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be. And he believed in the Lord; and he counted it to him for righteousness." - Genesis 15:5-6

In our current dispensation, by following Paul we're following Christ. The gospel given to Paul is how a soul is saved (1 Corinthians 15:3-4) thus believing what God says for us today is what we're looking for, when we rightly divide the bible (2 Timothy 2:15).

This scripture twisting and scripture wresting which leads one to speak to a checkbook looking for more finances, or yell out to your circumstances for a rolls royce is not what God would have us do today. It's not the point of Genesis 15:5-6 nor Romans 4:19. Abraham wasn't speaking to his circumstances, like Fred Price and Marilyn Hickey. "Abraham believed in the Lord; and he counted it to him for righteousness".

Let's do the same concerning Pauline doctrine today, and even believe the rest of the bible concerning the other dispensations, rightly divided.
