No law, No Transgression

"Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression." - Romans 4:15

Do you know people proud of their church attendance? Their tithing? Their water baptism? Their sacremental religious commandment keeping? Sure, we all do.

While these are merely unimportant man-made religious laws, imagine how frustrated and angry they would get (and do get) when you explain their situation through the law.

Would you say that the religion they're a part of is contrary to the sound doctrine of the Apostle Paul? Great! "But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully; Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;" 1 Timothy 1:8-10

The law worketh wrath in this case, alright. You're now showing a person who thinks they're "not really a bad person" or "never killed anybody" that they "...have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" - Romans 3:23 which is an important part of getting out the gospel. Moreover, you're showing them also that they're "contrary to sound doctrine". Another reason they won't be inviting you over for their birthday.

Because the law worketh wrath. So why then would you (or do people) try to be justified by the law? It's the very means by which it brings about that wrath! The second part of the verse is great too.

"For where no law is, there is no transgression".

Which is another reason why it's so important to see souls saved. Once someone trusts the gospel, the law (that worketh wrath) has no effect on them, because the believer is dead to the law. The believer's old man has been crucified! And "for where no law is, there is no transgression". (And with study, they understand that.)

"I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain." - Galatians 2:20-21

Those also that are proud of their church attendance, tithing, water baptism, sacremental religious commandment keeping may have those unaware of the knowledge of sin. In my experience so far, I've seen those with mental deficiencies (autism and others) force their children down an altar call, or make their children eat a wafer, when in actuality this verse shows those without the knowledge of sin are not even accountable.

"For where no law is, there is no transgression". Who would bring a law against one who has no understanding of the knowledge of sin? Even in the prophetic program, it wasn't like this.

"And should not I spare Nineveh, that great city, wherein are more than sixscore thousand persons that cannot discern between their right hand and their left hand; and also much cattle?" - Jonah 4:11
