The Little Flock of Israel
The Little Flock of Israel is the righteous group to whom the Lord is speaking to in the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. “Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” (Luke 12:32) They are also known in the Bible as “the Remnant” “And now for a little space grace hath been shewed from the Lord our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a nail in his holy place, that our God may lighten our eyes, and give us a little reviving in our bondage.” (Ezra 9:8)
This group is the believing remnant of Israel (Jews) who trusted that Jesus was their (Israel’s) Messiah when he ministered specifically to Israel as recorded in the books of Matthew Mark Luke and John. They were to endure and abide in Christ according to prophecy. “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.” (John 15:4-7) This explains how some were “In Christ before Paul”. They were in Christ according to the Prophetic Program.
Some of Israel refused to believe who Jesus was and what Christ taught, when he came specifically to Israel. “These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.(Matthew 10:5-7) ”But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” (Matthew 15:24) Thus creating an intensional division between Israel. Thus, there was Unbelieving Israel (an apostate nation), and Believing Israel (a righteous nation, a “little flock” of believers). (Example: The “Wheat” and the “Tares”) The Believing Remnant is God’s Little Flock, in which he tells them in Luke 12:32 that it is the Father’s Good Pleasure to give them the Kingdom, and not to Unbelieving Israel, such as the Sadducees, Pharisees, etc.
Nobody living today, no Christian group, bible study, religion, church, or denomination is the “Little Flock of Israel”. For we are the Church, the Body of Christ. Christians today are Not Sheep, Not part of a flock within a nation for earthly dominion, but rather part of a body being built for heavenly dominion, regarding a heavenly purpose. The Lord Jesus Christ, and all his instructions in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John are not talking to us today. The faith of the Little Flock were in covenants God established with Israel, that they would be fulfilled. “For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: but he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.” (Rom 2:28-29)
Concerning Israel today: “For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: for this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.” (Rom 11:25-27)
